Osprey

Osprey, Florida is located in Sarasota County Florida. It’s just south of Sarasota in “unincorporated” Sarasota County. Osprey is truly a diverse community. There are multi-million dollar homes located on the Intracoastal Waterway, all the way to mobile home parks.  Many restaurants can be found as well. Everything from fresh grouper sandwiches, to fine dining can be found.

As for shopping, there are several areas to explore. For example, the Osprey Village shops, Blackburn Point Plaza and Southbay Shopping Center. Most are conveniently located on Tamiami Trail (US 41). There are several local restaurants on “the Trail” as well, in addition to waterfront dining at Spanish Point or Blackburn Point Rd.

The area is also known for it’s beautifully preserved parks. Oscar Scherer State Park was twice voted Florida’s best state park. The threatened Florida scrub-jays are found here, if bird watching is your thing. You can also rent canoes and kayaks to explore South Creek. South Creek is a stream that flows to the Gulf of Mexico. 15 miles of trails also run through the park. Their perfect for hiking, bicycling, and above all wildlife viewing. Furthermore, the park also has a full-facility campground.
